Shut Down Windows XP Faster

Previously I had posted an article on how to make Vista shut down faster and I hope it was useful. So today I bring a similar kind of tutorial after following which you will be able to shut down Windows XP faster.
Windows XP is a line of proprietary operating systems developed by Microsoft for use on general-purpose computer systems, including home and business desktops, notebook computers, and media centers.

To shut down Windows XP faster you need to do some changes in your registry.

1. Click Start menu button -> Run...
2. Type in regedit and hit Enter.

3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control Panel -> Desktop.

4. Now you must look for HungAppTimeout and WaitToKillAppTimeout. Make sure that HungAppTimeout is set to 5000.
5. Double click WaitToKillAppTimeout and set its value to 4000.

Click OK.
5. Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control.

6. Double click WaitToKillServiceTimeout and set its value to 4000.

Click OK.
7. Reboot your machine and the next time you shut it down it will happen a lot faster.

A Google Magic Trick

I remember that previously I had given here a tutorial on hoe to make the google logo dance. Today I bring you anither google related tutorial by which you can perform a small trick with the Google logo and make the two O's of the logo disappear!

1. Connnect to the internet and open this page http://darkartsmedia.com/Google.html . Don't tell our audience that you will perform a "magic trick!".

2.With your free hand point to the Google logo and say "Watch This" and in the same time click with the mouse in quietly anywhere on the web page. You will have about FIVE seconds to cover the two "O"s with your fingers before the "O"s slowly disappear.

3. To make the "O"s reappear, tell the spectator to touch the screen using their fingers. Click secretly on the webpage with your mouse and in FIVE seconds the two "O"s will reappear by magic.

4. The next time you click on the fake web page you are quitely forwarded to the real Google search page so the spectator will never known what happened.
People in general just see the logo and dont look at the address bar.
One more thing HAPPY NEW YEAR to you.

Make Internet Pages Load Faster

When you surf the net do your web pages take a lot of time to load? If it is so then this registry tweak tutorial is exactly the thing you have been looking for.
This little tweak will help your computer load faster the internet pages you are opening. Works well and it can be set very quickly.

1. Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit and press Enter.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\ServiceProvider for Windows XP Pro or to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ VxD \ MSTCP \ ServiceProvider for Windows 98.

On the right side change this entries (all values are hexadecimal) to the value 1:

Class=1
DnsPriority=1
Hostspriority=1
LocalPriority=1
NetbtPriority=1

3. To change the value right click on the value and select Modify.

4. After you have completed doing that, reboot your computer and see how fast pages load.

And dont forget to tell me whether ir worked or not!

Make Your HDD Faster

Many people do not know this, but it is actually possible to speed up your Hard Disk Drive. To speed up your hard disk speed you need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made by the disk. This tip is only recommended if you have a primary memory (RAM) 256MB or higher.

Buffer Configuration

1. Click Start -> Run...
2. Type sysedit and hit Enter.

This command will open your System Configuration Editor, which has four windows open: SYSTEM.INI, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT.

3. Click on the SYSTEM.INI window, place the cursor after [386enh] and hit Enter.

4. Type Irq14=4096. Make sure you type it correctly because the command is case sensitive.

5. Go to File -> Save in order to save the new configuration.
6. Close the System Configuration Editor and restart you computer. The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives, however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks. In any case, it won't harm your system, so why not give it a try yourself.
