Pentax Launches Optio M60 Digital Camera

Pentax has launched its new Optio M60, a standard-class compact digital camera that features an optical 5X zoom, 10.0 megapixels, plus an “Auto Picture” function, where the camera automatically detects the conditions of the subject and selects the optimal scene mode.
The camera also comes in 3 different colors, allowing users to select their favorite color.

The Optio M60 is equipped with the Face Recognition AF & AE function, which automatically sets the focus and exposure. In addition to an increase in the number of faces, that can be detected at once, to 32 people, the detection time has also been made faster, to approximately 0.03 seconds at the fastest. It also features the Digital SR (shake reduction) mode, which can reduce camera shakes and subject blurring during still-image photography. This mode automatically adjusts the sensitivity up to a maximum of ISO 6400 in accordance with the subject’s brightness to permit a fast enough shutter speed to capture a sharp, clear image with little blurring. It comes with a 2.5-inch LCD monitor of approximately 230,000 dots. Price and availability will be announced shortly.

Pentax introduces 8 Megapixel Optio V20

Pentax has announced the 8 megapixel Optio V20 compact digital camera with a 5X zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD.The highlight of the camera is that it features three ways to help users optimize portrait photographs.

The Face Recognition function automatically detects and focuses on faces, then sets the optimum exposure. The Smile Capture function detects the key facial expression of smiling people and releases the shutter automatically, while the Blink Detection function reports to the user whether any subjects closed their eyes in an image, so that the shot may be recaptured if necessary. Additional features include Auto-tracking AF for continuously focusing on a moving subject, 52MB of built-in memory, a SD/SDHC expansion slot and an Auto-Macro mode that allows close-up photography as near as 4 inches (10 cm) without changing the normal focusing mode.
