When Gibson launched the Robot Guitar we were itching to check it out, and check we did. The auto-tuning system combined with the true Gibson tone was truly amazing. Now Gibson has announced the second generation of limited edition Robot Guitar.
What more can Robot Guitar offer when the stress is on auto-tuning? Well, this time Gibson claims the tuning happens within seconds, enabling artists to change the tuning in the middle of a performance (song). Named Dark Fire, the guitar uses what Gibson calls the Chameleon Tone technology with "infinite number of tonal possibilities".
The Dark Fire's tone potentiometer and CPA have also been redesigned so that turning the tone knob allows a very intuitive and significant change in tone, thus giving you even more ability to dial in your desired tone. That apart, the Dark Fire's battery system and power circuit have also been improved to get nearly 500 tunings from a single charge. As an added plus, you can also play the Dark Fire while the battery system is being charged.
It makes use of the popular P90h (single coil pickup) in the neck position and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position. The Dark Fire also gives you the ability to adjust and blend the acoustic sound from the piezo bridge pickup with the sound from the guitar's traditional pickups.
