Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 Keyboard by Microsoft

Microsoft has launched a new keyboard-and-mouse desktop combo, the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000, and an independent keyboard, the Digital Media Keyboard 3000. Both are designed to complement Vista-based PCs, in the sense that they give quick access to Flip 3D. The Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 features an ultra-thin Comfort Curve keyboard; Comfort Curve is a design that's been much appreciated over the past few years -- it has a slight (six-degree curve) that makes typing more comfortable. The keyboard features a Vista Aero-inspired translucent design and three "Floating" My Favorites keys, meaning the user can push and hold a key to assign it to the current destination (such as a local folder or a Web site). The rechargeable mouse of the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 set has a horizontal charging station that provides a sturdy base; there's a battery status indicator that lets users know when it's time to charge the device. The 2.4 GHz wireless communication frequency means users can expect virtually no interference. In addition, the set is capable of frequency-hopping in the case of interference being encountered. The range for the mouse is as much as 30 feet. The Digital Media Keyboard 3000 gives users one-touch access to photos and to Windows Media Player. It also has keys for zooming in.The Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 will retail in the US in April for around $130 (Rs 5,000 approx) while the Digital Media Keyboard 3000 will retail in June for about $30 (Rs 1,200).Source

Motorola and Kodak May Have Colaborated....

It’s just possible that Motorola has a lot more up their sleeve than we give them credit for. From a leaked video on YouTube, that was removed, Unwired View managed to get a get a few quick glimpses of what the new line up of mobiles would be. Starting off is the new Motorola Kodak handset. It won’t take a genius to deduce that this particular handset would be headed into their Camera Phone category. From the blurry images it seems like this could be a ROKR E8 hybrid considering the touch sensitive styled keypad. Would it have a 5 megapixel camera? Let’s wait and see.Other phones depicted in the video included a silver clamshell handset that gives off the distinct impression of a glass encased earphone with a screen beneath. Could this be the new MOTOMING A1600? Possibly. It also seems like Motorola’s Q9 Windows Mobile handset would also be out with Windows Mobile 6.1. Let’s hope so. There also seems to be a new slider with a scroll wheel for navigation. The colors seem to give it an extremely cool feel.

Of course none of this information is confirmed, but considering the fact that YouTube has removed the video, well, let’s just wait and see. Stay Tuned.Source

First Trojan for Blackberry.....!!!!!!

Varun Srivastava, the Business Development Head at APPIN Security Group that just happens to be a leading player in ethical hacking and information security, has recently come out with a Whitepaper on what causes hacking of BlackBerry phones, whether it is secure/ lawfully interceptible, and how can it be avoided. Needless to say, BlackBerry users are probably fretting right about now, as most offices these days issue some of their executives, especially the ones that are constantly traveling, with Blackberry handsets. What the guys at APPIN have stated is simply, as soon as a Trojan for the BlackBerry is out and making its rounds, Blackberry users are going to have a problem with keeping their data secure. A hacking code called the BB Hacking toolkit, which comes with the Blackberry Trojan called BBProxy is what can be deployed into a BlackBerry server and it’s ‘Troy’ all over again. What this deceitful Trojan does is open up a back-door to the company’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and the information stored is then up for grabs. In technical terms it will bypass all the company’s security systems that protect data stored on the servers. Not only can the hacker simply remove information undetected they could also infect the system itself. Since the communications channel between the BlackBerry server and handheld device is encrypted and cannot be properly inspected by typical security products, a tunnel is usually opened by the administrator to allow the encrypted communications channel to the BlackBerry server inside the organization's network. When launched, BBProxy opens up its own hidden tunnel between the BlackBerry and the user's corporate network, as the hack runs in the background. Thanks to the R and D conducted by APPIN, they also enclosed a few countermeasures in their Whitepaper release – To counteract this potential threat Secure Computing recommends isolating servers that face the public internet, including a BlackBerry server and the mail server working with it, in their own Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which would reduce the risk of a compromised server providing access to other critical servers. The BlackBerry server and mail server should also not be permitted to open arbitrary connections to the internal network or Internet, and internal users should not be permitted to open arbitrary connections to either the BlackBerry server or mail server. There is something like 250 plus commands that allow the administrator to have full control over how the BlackBerry as a platform is used by the users within the BlackBerry Enterprise Server community. This gives administrators full control over what third party applications can be installed on employee handheld for example. Setting one policy can disable unwanted software altogether. So you never have to worry about malware or anything else that's not authorized.Source
