A Google Magic Trick

I remember that previously I had given here a tutorial on hoe to make the google logo dance. Today I bring you anither google related tutorial by which you can perform a small trick with the Google logo and make the two O's of the logo disappear!

1. Connnect to the internet and open this page http://darkartsmedia.com/Google.html . Don't tell our audience that you will perform a "magic trick!".

2.With your free hand point to the Google logo and say "Watch This" and in the same time click with the mouse in quietly anywhere on the web page. You will have about FIVE seconds to cover the two "O"s with your fingers before the "O"s slowly disappear.

3. To make the "O"s reappear, tell the spectator to touch the screen using their fingers. Click secretly on the webpage with your mouse and in FIVE seconds the two "O"s will reappear by magic.

4. The next time you click on the fake web page you are quitely forwarded to the real Google search page so the spectator will never known what happened.
People in general just see the logo and dont look at the address bar.
One more thing HAPPY NEW YEAR to you.

Apple, Microsoft And Google Sued

A law suit has emerged, that could have a sweeping impact on multiple software majors and a host of smaller graphical suite-makers. This law suit has been filled by Cygnus Systems and accuses major companies like Adobe, Google, and Microsoft of having violated their patent by using thumbnails, which Cygnus claims it invented.

To this purpose they have patented a broad-base technology which states "a method and system for storing, navigating, and accessing files within an operating system through the use of a graphical thumbnail representing the video display of the active document within the active application."

This directly affects just about every other graphical software that utilizes thumbnails. Be it Apple’s cover flow or Windows explorer, the number of software that utilizes this particular feature is too vast to list. It even shows up in hardware like mobile phones, iPods, PMPS and all sorts of other devices. If this case goes to court and goes in favor of the company, they could very wind up as one of the richest on the planet. In such cases normally not only is the victor entitled to current expenditures and costs, it can also sue for past damages caused by the use of their patent.

Wikipedia Rival : Knol by Google

Google opened a new service to the public recently called Knol . The company announced it last December. Knols are articles about specific topics, written by people who have knowlodge about those subjects.

The key principle behind Knol is authorship. Every knol article will have an author or group of authors who will sign the article with their name. With "moderated collaboration", Google introduced a new method for authors to work together.

Google also made an agreement with the New Yorker magazine which allows any Knol author to add one cartoon per knol from the New Yorker's cartoon collection.

"Knol has been described both as a rival to encyclopedia sites such as Wikipedia and Scholarpedia and as a complement to Wikipedia, offering a different format that addresses many of Wikipedia's shortcomings. The non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, which owns the name Wikipedia and the servers hosting the Wikipedia projects, welcomed the Google Knol initiative saying that "The more good free content, the better for the world."

While Wikipedia articles are written collectively under a "neutral point of view" policy,Knol will highlight personal expertise by emphasizing authorship and, like articles provided on Squidoo, HubPages, oondi.com, and Helium.com, knols will contain the personal opinions of the author." (Wikipedia.com)

Knol can be found at knol.google.com.

Find Secret Websites And Articles

There are a lot of sites on the Internet whose site owners that like to hide some of the site's ages or even the entire site from the search engines. You can now find those sites with robots.txt.

Robots.txt
is a text file present in the root directory of a site which is used to control which pages are indexed by a robot. If you use the 'disallow' word you can block parts of your sites to be found by search engines.

Step 1. Open the link http://www.google.com and search for the keyword :

"robots.txt" "disallow:" filetype:txt

Step 2. You will find the robots.txt file from sites that uses disallow command in it.

Step 3. Let's open for example the first site: WhiteHouse. We can see that a lot of pages were made invisible.

Step 4. To open 'forbidden' pages just copy the text from what disallow command you want, without the "text" at the end.

Step 5. Now replace in the browser /robots.txt with your copied text and press Enter. The page will open.

This is the hidden page from WhiteHouse.

There are many more interesting sites which you can unlock using this tutorial. Happy unlocking!

Make the Google Logo Dance!!!

You may have heard about many google hacks like the one in which you can place your two fingers just above the two O's of Google and after a few seconds, the O's would vanish. The one that I am going to write about today is a bit more funnier. After you complete doing this, you will find the Google logo dancing all over the screen.

Step 1. Go to www.google.com, it must be Google.com and not Google.org or Google.ro or other top level domain other than the one asked for. If you can't access Google.com due to any reason the you can find it at this link: http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en

Step 2. Delete the URL address present in the URL bar or the navigation bar and paste this code:

javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.images; DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i-DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5; DIS.top=Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5}R++}setInterval('A()',5); void(0);

Step 3. After you press enter after entering the code you will see the google logo dancing all over the screen. Try it out.

One more thing I would like to add is that this trick can be tried out on any website.com but all may not work.

"Google Sky" for your Browser

If Astronomy interests you, you ought to be aware of "Google Sky", an Internet tool for viewing the stars and galaxies. The good news is that enthusiasts will now be able to access this tool through a browser version of "Google Sky".
Prior to this, to access "Sky", users needed to download and install the "Google Earth" application -- the Web-based mapping software. "Google Sky" was introduced as an additional feature to "Google Earth" (version 4.2) in August last year.
In order to make the tool accessible through a browser, developers have only changed the projection to display these images within "Google Maps" (the Mercator projection). The images that will be seen in "Google Sky" on your browser will be the same as those found in 'Sky' in "Google Earth". Though users will not be able to view the Northern and Southern celestial poles. Through "Google Sky" on browser, users will be able to gallivant around the universe, zoom-in and out of images of celestial bodies, search for planets and galaxies, and view the sky through infrared, x-ray, ultraviolet, and microwave views. An Earth and Sky podcast has also been integrated in the interface. "Google Sky" will allow users to locate the positions of the planets and constellations, and even watch the birth of distant galaxies as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope, just as in the regular version.
The tool has been created by Google through a partnership with the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, the science operations center for Hubble.Source

Google Gears Goes Mobile

For those of you who aren’t exactly sure what Google Gears is capable of or what it is – it's an open source browser extension that lets developers create web applications that can run offline. Gears provides three key features:
  • A local server, to cache and serve application resources (HTML, JavaScript, images, etc.) without needing to contact a server
  • A database, to store and access data from within the browser
  • A worker thread pool, to make web applications more responsive by performing expensive operations in the background
What this essentially means is that in case you’re one of those people who like to take their work with them wherever they go and that would include places that have no access to the net, Gears will allow you workaholics to get things down without being connected. At the moment since it's still in a developmental stage, Gears is being designed for only Windows mobile devices that run on a Windows Mobile 5 and 6 OS. This mobile version supports Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile handsets and is restricted to just such devices. The devices would also have to have applications that are compatible with Gears in order for it to function correctly. Considering this is just an early phase, I’m sure it wont be too long (hopefully) before they’re able to adapt Google Gears for other Operating Systems and handsets.
This means that other smartphone users, such as those using Apple's iPhone, or people using other popular mobile browsers, such as Opera, won't be able to use Google Gears. But Google has said that it plans to expand support to other browsers and cell phone platforms, including its own Android software.Source
